The capital region is on its way to becoming one of the most important aviation locations in Europe. In Germany, Berlin Brandenburg Airport is the third largest airport location. For years, BER recorded continuous and strong growth. In 2019, around 35.65 million passengers were handled in Berlin - a new passenger record. Due to the pandemic, passenger numbers from 2020 to 2022 are far below the figures before the crisis. In 2023, 23.07 million passengers passed through BER.
There is a lot of potential for growth, especially in the long-haul and niche markets. Many of the unserved routes have excellent potential in a European comparison.
