Driving
Licences

In addition to a driving permit, a driver's licence issued by the airport operator is required for independent driving in the security areas within the airport premises.

A distinction is made between airport driving licences (FF) and runway driving licences (PF). The marking is made on the airport identification card.

Airport driving licences

With regard to driving independently in the security area within the airport premises, it is taken for granted that you have successfully completed the training programme for the airport driving licence (FF) or runway driving licence (PF). The theory training is to be completed in the form of an e-learning course (online training). You will receive the necessary access data for the training portal at your personal e-mail address once you have submitted your application. You can complete the training on any PC with at least the Windows 10 operating system and a current browser (MS Chromium Edge or Google Chrome).

More information about airport driving licenses:

  • Applicants require an EU Category B driving license or higher, as well as a valid airport security pass for areas not accessible to the general public (B or R).
  • Airport driving licenses are issued for 2 years at most.
  • Extending an airport driving license is subject to a new application and completion of the online training course, including theory test.
  • Extending a runway driving license is subject to a new application and completion of the online training course, including theory test and practical test.
  • The airport driving license shall lose its validity automatically and without exception in the event of any withdrawal of an official driving license. In addition, safety violations may result in penalties and temporary withdrawal of the airport driving license.
