Driving
Licences

In addition to a driving permit, a driver's licence issued by the airport operator is required for independent driving in the security areas within the airport premises.

A distinction is made between airport driving licences (FF) and runway driving licences (PF). The marking is made on the airport identification card.

Airport driving licence (FF)

Driving on the lanes in the airport security area requires a successfully passed airport driving test. The training is to be completed in the form of an e-learning course (online training). You will receive the access data by e-mail from the driving licence office when you apply. You can complete the course at home on your PC or as well as at our office.

Further notes on the airport driving licence:

  • Applications for airport driving licences (FF, PF) must be submitted in person or via e-mail fuehrerschein@berlin-airport.de to the driving licence office. Delivery by post or via third parties is not permitted.
  • Applicants need an EU driving licence of class A, B or higher, as well as an airport identification card authorising access to the sensitive security areas.
  • The airport driving licence is issued for a limited period of 2 years.
  • An extension of the airport driving licence requires a new application and completion of the online training incl. theory test.
  • The airport driver's licence automatically and without exception loses its validity in the event of any withdrawal of the official driver's licence, which must be reported immediately by the person concerned to his/her superior. In addition, safety violations may result in a temporary revocation of the airport driving licence.

Procedure for all initial or new applications

All first-time or new applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • The application for the airport driver's licence must be submitted in person or via e-mail to the driver's licence office.
  • The applicant must take part in a theoretical and practical part of the training.
  • Both parts of the training conclude with an examination, which must be completed under supervision.
  • If you have any questions or wish to book an appointment, please contact the FBB´s driving licence office. You will also receive your airport driving licence there.
  • For detailed information, please refer to the application form for the airport driving licence starting on page 3.

Runway driving licence (PF)

Driving on the apron and the flight operation areas is only permitted with a runway licence. This requires the possession of an airport driving licence valid for at least three months as well as the successfully completed training courses "PF Online Training incl. Examination Module1 / PF Frontal Training Module2 / PF Practical Examination Module4".

The training courses can be completed directly via Flughafengesellschaft Berlin Brandenburg. Applications for a runway licence and for the necessary training courses must only be submitted to the driving licence office. The applications are then checked by aviation training management.

The aviation department is your responsible contact for all concerns regarding the necessary training courses.
