Berlin Brandenburg Airport is one of the winners of the Prix Versailles 2021. Last week, BER received the special prize for the interior design of Terminal 1 in the Airports category.
The Prix Versailles is a prestigious international architecture prize that has been awarded since 2015. It stands for exceptional architecture and design in the fields of education, sports and tourism. Every year, 24 buildings are honored from among hundreds of entries.
For the Prix Versailles Airports 2021, five other airport candidates besides BER were in the final selection: Athens International Airport (Greece), Hazrat Sultan International Airport (Kazakhstan), New Plymouth Airport (New Zealand), LaGuardia Airport (New York, USA) and Clark International Airport (Philippines). The latter won the top prize in the Airports category. The special prize for the exterior design of its Terminal B was awarded to LaGuardia Airport. The criteria used by the jury in Paris to award the prizes included innovation, creativity and sustainability.
