Aircraft noise measurement report for Thyrow

From June 2022

Published: 08 August 2022, 15:30

Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH’s local measuring station was set up on Thyrower Bahnhofstraße between 2 and 20 June 2022. Aircraft noise measurements showed a continuous daytime sound level of 44.2 dB(A) and a continuous night-time sound level of 32.8 dB(A).

Flugspuren

The most noise was caused by take-offs from the south runway heading west, which caused a mean maximum level of 59 dB(A). A mean maximum level of 55 dB(A) was recorded for take-offs from the southern runway heading east. Take-offs from the north runway heading west and a few landings on the south runway from the east could also be recorded in Thyrow.

All measured values were significantly below the projections made for Thyrow before the BER began operations.

The continuous sound levels are important for, among other things, determining threshold values for guaranteeing noise protection measures. Rooms used at night are protected from a continuous sound level of 50 dB(A); rooms used during the day from 60 dB(A).
