Award for best dissertation in the Aviation Engineering/Aviation Management study programme

The best dissertations of the year were honoured last Saturday (18 November 2023) as part of the annual graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Wildau University of Applied Sciences (TH Wildau). The Aviation Department at Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) closely followed the selection of the best dissertations in the Aviation Engineering/Aviation Management study programme. The prize for best master’s dissertation was awarded to graduate Niclas Hinrichs, who analysed the resilience of the German airport system during the pandemic. Resilience in a corporate context means a company’s ability to withstand or adapt to challenging circumstances in times of crisis, including its ability to anticipate and respond to them. Therefore, resilience is highly relevant, especially for critical infrastructures like airports. The assessment indicators developed in the final dissertation can help to develop proactive strategies for the effectiveness and sustainability of future decisions. Michael Halberstadt, Chief Human Resources Officer at FBB, personally congratulated the graduate at the award ceremony in the Audimax.

Michael Halberstadt, Chief Human Resources Officer at FBB: “The aviation industry constantly has to face new challenges – this topic was the subject of this year’s nominated dissertations from the Aviation Engineering/Aviation Management study programme at TH Wildau. As an airport, we also benefit from the practical relevance and the insights gained from the work. I would like to congratulate Mr Hinrichs on today’s award for his work on the resilience of the German airport system and equally congratulate all of the faculty’s other graduates from this year on the successful completion of their studies.”

With over 3,200 students in two faculties, TH Wildau is an important centre of education and research in the airport region. Thanks to its practical study programmes, personal atmosphere and modern campus, it is not only one of the strongest research universities in Germany, but also one of the most popular universities in Germany among 5,000 students. www.th-wildau.de
