Important milestone for HORIZN BER CITY

Published: 24 June 2024, 12:55

An important milestone has been reached in the concept tender procedure for the first building block of the HORIZN BER CITY future district. The qualification phase has been completed and the bidders and bidding consortia have been selected. The bidding and negotiation phase (phase 2) was officially launched on 14 June 2024. The qualified bidders and bidding consortia are now invited to deepen and detail their concepts and submit an attractive ground rent offer. The deadline for submission is 14 October 2024.

Two-tier concept tender process

Co-working, co-creating, co-developing: the two-tier concept tender process for Part 1, the first building block of the HORIZN BER CITY district, is based on these maxims in accordance with the EU Concessions Directive. Diversity of ideas, creativity, bold solutions and cooperation between partners are the focus of the Europe-wide procedure. In a first step - until 9 April 2024 - international real estate, investment and project development companies as well as their potential partner companies had the opportunity to submit concept sketches for the first development module. The internal evaluation will now be followed by an in-depth analysis and concretisation of the concepts. An award decision is expected at the end of 2024.

HORIZN BER CITY

With the HORIZN BER CITY district, a new, diverse and climate-friendly urban landscape will develop over the next 20 years in the direct neighbourhood of Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The aim is to further develop the connection between urban spaces and their commercial use and to realise one of the most central European innovation locations. In addition to office, hotel and conference uses, future technologies, research, development and prototyping as well as gastronomy, local supply, culture and edutainment are to be located in the district - embedded in neighbourhood parks as well as diverse recreational areas and connected by a surrounding footpath and cycle path. Sustainability, biodiversity and quality of life play an important role in the largely car-free neighbourhood.
