Behind the scenes

Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) invited representatives of the local authorities in the airport region to a joint exchange at BER on Thursday, 12 September 2024. In addition to the mayors of the surrounding municipalities and the local authorities of Schönefeld, the office of the Airport Berlin Brandenburg Dialogue Forum and the management of BADC Berlin-Brandenburg Area Development Company GmbH also took part in the event.

Following a welcome address by Michael Halberstadt, FBB's Managing Director of Human Resources, FBB executives reported on current issues relevant to the surrounding area and the operation of the BER. Following the expert presentations, participants were given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at BER operations during a visit to the West Fire Station, the Airport Control Centre and the Emergency Operations Centre. The tour was rounded off with a ride on the apron. The event concluded with an exchange of ideas over lunch.

„Today's dialogue between representatives of the surrounding communities is crucial to address current issues and challenges directly. It is important that we share our views on the pressing issues facing our region and work together to find solutions that affect us all.“
Michael Halberstadt, Chief Human Ressources Officer, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH

„We would like to thank FBB for today's very successful event and for the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at BER. Furthermore, the exchange with the representatives of the other surrounding communities and FBB is essential to address the challenges we face together. Only by working together can we develop sustainable solutions for our region.“
Michaela Wiezorek, Mayor of Königs Wusterhausen
