Today at 10.30 a.m., the 2nd National Aviation Conference starts. At the virtual event, almost 30 speakers from politics and business will discuss the revival of aviation after coronavirus, climate-neutral flying and how the Federal Republic of Germany can become a technology leader in this field.
The German government will be represented by Chancellor Angela Merkel, Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier and Federal Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer. As the organising federal state, Brandenburg will be represented by Minister President Dietmar Woidke. From the business community, the Federal Association of the German Air Transport Industry (BDL) and the Federal Association of the German Aerospace Industry (BDLI), among others, will participate. In addition, the trade unions IG Metall and ver.di are among the organisers.
Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, welcomed the organisers of the national aviation conference at the kick-off in the check-in hall: "On behalf of the airport company Berlin Brandenburg, we welcome the National Aviation Conference (NLK) to BER. We are delighted that the 2nd NLK is taking place in the capital region. This is a signal that BER will have a good future as an important international commercial airport. The coming years at BER will be characterised by a new start and growth both in Europe and beyond. In the long term, the success of air transport depends on the required transition to more sustainable flying."
