In November, the number of passengers at Berlin Brandenburg airport reduced, as expected, compared to the holiday month October. However, a drastic slump in traffic figures did not occur. In total, 1.22 million people used the BER airport last month, and thus almost 500,000 fewer than in October 2021. In November of the previous year, 2020, 213,000 passengers were handled at BER. A total of 8.9 million passengers used the BER in 2021, up to and including November.
Last month, 12,300 flight movements were registered, and thus 2,400 fewer than in October 2021. In November 2020, around 4,700 aircraft took-off and landed at BER.
Around 3,000 tonnes of goods were handled as air cargo. That is only 150 tonnes fewer than in November 2019. Air cargo thus almost reached the level of the pre-crisis year.
Aletta von Massenbach, Chairwoman of the Board of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “We are satisfied with the development of passenger traffic last month. There was luckily no drastic fall in passenger numbers after the end of the autumn holidays. The seasonal fluctuations, however, are on a low level. With a view to the Christmas traffic, we want to offer our passengers the best possible airport experience as a start to the Christmas period. We have therefore intensified coordination with our process partners.”
The traffic report November 2021 with the final figures can be found online at the end of the month:
Last months, all flights were solely coordinated via the northern take-off and landing runway. The attached diagram shows the flight movements on the individual flight paths. From December, both BER take-off and landing runways will be back in operation.
