Berlin Brandenburg Airport puts Terminal 2 (T2) into operation for the summer flight schedule. The airline Ryanair will be the main user. The first departure from the new BER terminal will also be undertaken by the Irish airline on March 24. In the following days, all Ryanair departures will be handled in T2. From the beginning of April, most arrivals from Ryanair and some arrivals from other airlines will also be handled via T2; from that point on, passengers will also be able to pick up their luggage there. Passengers and collectors are asked to find out more about the respective terminal in advance. For each flight, the digital display boards at the airport, on the website and in the app indicate whether the flight will take off or land at T1 or T2.
Terminal 2 serves as a check-in building for departures and arrivals. It is connected to the departure gates in Terminal 1's Pier Nord via two bridges. It was completed at the end of September 2020 before the opening of BER. However, it has not yet been used, due to the low number of passengers during the corona pandemic.
The approach for passengers to Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 is identical. The train station below Terminal 1 offers a direct connection to both terminals. The multi-storey car parks at BER can also be used equally for both terminals. It is only a short walk from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. The route goes via level E0 and is signposted. Numerous self-service kiosks are available to passengers in the check-in hall of Terminal 2. The modern security checkpoints are located on the first floor. Behind them, you’ll find the plaza with shops and restaurants. From the plaza, passengers reach can the departure areas via a bridge. Aircraft with arriving passengers are parked on the apron at Pier Nord in the immediate vicinity of Terminal 2. From there, passengers go to T2 via the connecting bridges. The baggage reclaim area can be found on the ground floor after a short walk through the plaza. You can walk to the multi-storey car parks, taxis, buses or the underground train station via level E0.
