On Wednesday, 8 February 2023, representatives from the collective bargaining parties from the trade union ver.di, the AWB employers’ association and Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) met for a third negotiation meeting as part of the current round of collective bargaining. The trade union ver.di terminated the existing collective wage agreement with the airport company as well as the collective agreement for BER’s airport fire service as of 31 December 2022. A one-day warning strike took place at BER Airport on 25 January 2023.

The parties involved in the collective bargaining agreed on the following key points in the third round of negotiations:

  • Payment of a bonus for inflation adjustment free from any tax and social insurance contributions of EUR 2,000 for employees and EUR 1,000 for apprentices and dual students in March 2023.
  • A sustainable increase in the table remuneration as of 1 May 2023 by EUR 200 for employees (EUR 100 for apprentices and dual students)
  • Payment of a second bonus for inflation adjustment free from any tax and social insurance contributions of EUR 500 for employees and of EUR 250 for apprentices and dual students in December 2023
  • A further sustainable increase in the table remuneration as of 1 April 2024 by a further EUR 160 for employees (EUR 80 for apprentices and dual students)
  • The term of the collective wage agreement is 20 months and, therefore, cannot be terminated before 31 August 2024.
  • An increase in the annual training quota by 20 percent to at least 36 apprentices or dual students per training year 
  • The collective agreement for the airport fire service has been further developed with regard to classification and the subject of bonuses and can now be terminated in its latest version no earlier than 31 December 2025.

The result is subject to the approval of the respective bodies.
