According to the preliminary figures in the traffic report, around 2.37 million passengers passed through BER in May 2024. This represents an increase of 13.2 per cent compared to May 2023, when around 2.1 million passengers travelled via BER. The busiest day was May 17 when the airport welcomed 91,958 passengers. In May of the pre-pandemic year 2019, 3.2 million passengers passed through the two airports Tegel and Schönefeld.
In May 2024, 17,903 aircrafts were registered at BER. Compared to the same month of the previous year, aircraft movements increased by 11 per cent. In May 2023, there were 16,133 aircraft movements. In May 2019, 26,142 aircraft movements were recorded at Tegel and Schönefeld.
In total, around 3,614 tonnes of air freight were handled at BER in May 2024. That is an increase by 44,3 per cent compared to the same month last year (with 2,505 tonnes). Compared to May in the pre-pandemic year 2019 (3,089 tonnes), air freight volumes increased by 17 per cent.
