Behind the scenes for students

On November 11, 2025, nearly 50 students from various fields of study at universities in Berlin and Brandenburg gathered at BER Airport for the 69th event in the airport's own lecture series, “Airport Campus.” After a welcome by Christian Franzke, Regional Affairs Officer at Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, Paul Hoppe, an expert in innovation management, provided exciting insights into the use of innovations in airport operations. In his presentation, he introduced the systems and technologies behind passenger handling at BER – including self-service offerings, the BER Runway, and BER Biometrics – and showed how these innovations ensure efficient processes and an improved passenger experience.

Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to get to know BER during a guided tour, take a look at the apron from the visitor terrace, and chat with each other during the concluding get-together.

About Airport Campus: With the “Airport Campus” series of events, the airport company offers interesting insights behind the scenes of airport operations through presentations by its specialists, managers, and partners. The format is primarily aimed at interested students in the capital region and was launched in November 2008. Since then, 69 events have taken place, attended by more than 4,000 students.
