On Thursday, 13 November 2025, Carolin Kruse, Eberhard Brodhage and Christian Wessel from the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club e. V. (ADFC) presented Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) with the bronze certificate for being a ‘bicycle-friendly employer’. The ADFC thus recognises FBB's activities and offerings related to cycling. Participation in cycling campaigns, the company bicycle programme, Bike Day and numerous bicycle parking facilities distributed across various locations at BER earned FBB many points towards certification. In the event of minor breakdowns, all FBB employees now have access to a repair kit including an air pump at three different locations.

What is a bicycle-friendly employer?

The EU-wide ‘Certified Bicycle-Friendly Employer’ seal has been awarded exclusively by the ADFC in Germany since 2017. To date, 23 companies in the capital region have been certified. The ‘Bicycle-Friendly Employer’ seal can be awarded in bronze, silver or gold and is valid for three years. After further review and a subsequent positive assessment, the certification can be renewed. In addition to the seal, companies receive a wide range of advice and support to help them become more bicycle-friendly. Receiving the seal underscores FBB's commitment to sustainable mobility.
