BER noise protection programme

Strong interest in the final information session

Published: 20 March 2026, 11:00

On Wednesday evening, the airport operator welcomed around 65 local residents to what is expected to be the final information session on the BER noise abatement programme at the Dialog-Forum in Schönefeld. The participants had been personally invited by the noise abatement team, as they had submitted applications for noise abatement measures in autumn 2025, shortly before the deadline.

The event focused on a presentation covering the basics of the soundproofing programme and the next steps towards creating a soundproof home. Specific guidance was also provided on how to implement the measures in practice.

Afterwards, many guests took the opportunity to engage in direct discussion: experts from construction firms and representatives from the airport were on hand to answer questions during numerous one-to-one and constructive discussions.

There are currently just under 200 applications still being processed. The relevant documents will be sent out in the course of this year. Residents will then be informed of the noise insulation measures required for their buildings and will have until the end of 2029 at the latest to implement them.
