Regional politicians visit BER

As part of the annual mayors’ roundtable, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) welcomed representatives of local governments from the airport region to BER on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, for a joint discussion. About 30 participants accepted the invitation from the FBB’s representative for the surrounding region. Among them were representatives from the districts of Dahme-Spreewald, Teltow-Fläming, and Oder-Spree; the mayors of several neighboring municipalities; and the district mayor of Treptow-Köpenick. Also represented were the secretariat of the Berlin Brandenburg Airport Dialogue Forum and the heads of several neighborhoods in Schönefeld.

Following welcoming remarks by Aletta von Massenbach, Chair of the FBB Executive Board, and Axel Eschment, FBB Managing Director of Human Resources, the agenda focused on current topics and developments related to BER—including sustainability measures at the airport and the expansion of the government terminal.

During a subsequent apron tour, the participants were able to see the topics discussed for themselves: During the tour of the airport grounds, they experienced fully electrified aircraft handling up close and gained insights into the latest developments at the government terminal.

To conclude the event, the participants took the opportunity to further deepen their discussions and continue their personal exchanges.
