Scoot brings another airline to BER and expands the choice of flights for the capital region. From 10 August this year, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines will operate three flights a week from Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt to Singapore via Athens. Since May 2021, Scoot has gradually been resuming its long-haul operations from Europe. As soon as the travel situation has further improved, Scoot intends to offer non-stop flights from BER to Singapore.
Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, Chief Executive Officer of Berlin Brandenburg Airport GmbH: “We are delighted that Scoot is back and will first connect the capital region with Singapore once more. Several airlines are increasingly interested in including BER in their flight schedules right now. This demonstrates that even following the Coronavirus pandemic, the capital region is an economically attractive target for airlines and that further destinations will be added to BER in the months ahead. As the global containment of the pandemic progresses, it will just be a matter of time until Scoot flies direct from BER to Singapore, and other airlines also offer long-haul flights from BER.”
Campbell Wilson, CEO of Scoot: “We are very much looking forward to returning to Berlin. Connecting the German capital with Singapore via Athens will enable Scoot to meet the high demand for flights between Germany and Greece in the summer season once travel restrictions within Europe have been relaxed. At the same time, we are serving the demand for travel from Europe to Singapore, allowing us to gradually expand our network of routes again.”
