Norse Atlantic Airways takes off from BER
Non-stop to New York with new airline

The Norwegian long-haul specialist airline NORSE Atlantic Airways now connects BER non-stop with the USA. New York JFK Airport and BER Airport are now every day connected with a flight. This Friday, NORSE Atlantic Airways will also be taking off for the west coast of the USA. There will be three flights a week to Los Angeles in the future.

Thomas Hoff Andersson, Chief Operations Officer, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “Welcome NORSE! BER is pleased to welcome a new, strong partner. The new long-haul connection to the USA’s east coast boosts BER’s connectivity and, therefore, attractiveness. Fast, direct and reliable scheduled flights are an important basis for the traditionally close and diverse connections between the capital region and the USA. Therefore, the new offers are good news for the airport location and the region as a whole.”

Bjørn Tore Larsen, Founder, Managing Director and Majority shareholder of Norse Atlantic Airways: “We are very excited to announce the new route from Berlin to New York. For far too long the vibrant and culturally diverse city of Berlin has been subjected to poor direct transatlantic connectivity. Our extremely competitive fares and direct flights will provide a direct and cost-effective option, saving both money and time, for local and international businesses when choosing to travel to and from the US or taking advantage of our cargo services.”

Sebastian Stietzel, President of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK): “The new flight from Norwegian airline “NORSE” shows that Berlin, an important European metropolis, is a gateway to the world. Today's inauguration flight to New York (JFK) clearly shows how attractive the Berlin region is for intercontinental air traffic and why more airlines are interested in flying to and from BER. NORSE Atlantic Airways is the second airline, alongside United Airlines, to connect Berlin with the most important commercial and financial centre in the USA. This is a success for German-American economic relations, but with a view to the entire long-distance network to and from Berlin, it is only a drop in the ocean.”

The connections will be flown with Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which emit less CO2 emissions and are quieter than many other long-distance aircraft.
