Special Olympics World Games in Berlin come to an end

Information for passengers at BER

A huge event is coming to an end this Sunday: The Special Olympics World Games, an international, vibrant celebration of sport, is taking place in Berlin until 25 June. By next Tuesday, 27 June, most of the delegations will have left again via BER Airport. Next Monday alone, the main departure day, around 6,000 guests from all around the world will fly back home via BER. For this reason, passengers may experience temporary disruptions to their journey over this coming weekend and at the beginning of the week. Passengers are particularly asked to use public transport.

The airport company is a “supporter” of the Special Olympics as part of a cooperation and wants to help athletes at BER to depart as stress-free as possible. This is why, for logistical reasons and to provide the best possible support for the athletes, there will be temporary restrictions on the approach at Terminal 1 and limited use of the short-term parking spaces there.

Passengers can obtain information about getting to and from BER via the airport info, on the airport company’s website, via the social media channels and the BER app.
