As of now: four times a week non-stop from BER to Beijing
Hainan Airlines increases number of flights to mark connection’s 15th anniversary

Hainan Airlines has been flying the route between the German capital region and Beijing for 15 years. To mark this anniversary, the Chinese airline is expanding its service at BER from three to four flights per week and offering the non-stop connection every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “Congratulations to Hainan Airlines on the 15th anniversary of its connection between the German capital region and Beijing. Long-term success shows that the demand for long-haul tourism and business travel is permanently stable in the connected cultural and economic metropolises. The decision for the route enables a lively city partnership between Berlin and Beijing.”

Min Zhang, General Manager Berlin Office of Hainan Airlines: “We are pleased that we are once again able to offer our passengers a range of flights between our countries that is close to the level of the pre-pandemic year 2019. Hainan Airlines is the bridge between the two capitals and also conveniently connects Berlin with many destinations in China and in Asia via Beijing, such as Tokyo and Bangkok.”

The flight time from BER to Beijing is around nine hours and around ten hours in the opposite direction. Flights are on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays (local time):

Departure from Beijing at 2:20 am – arrival at BER 6:25 am
Departure from BER at 1:55 pm – arrival in Beijing at 5 am the following day

In September 2008, Hainan Airlines launched a non-stop service to Beijing from Berlin-Tegel Airport. The route was reintroduced to the airline’s route network at BER in August 2022 following the Covid-related interruption.

Since launching the connection 15 years ago, Hainan Airlines has:

  • operated almost 4,500 flights
  • carried almost 900,000 passengers
  • transported more than 56,000 tonnes of cargo
