Yesterday, Apprenticeship Day took place for the first time in ILA Hall A. Around 500 interested students and youths visited the booths of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH and other airport-based companies in order to find out about the various apprenticeships and dual study programmes on offer.
Hendrik Fischer, State Secretary of the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy of the State of Brandenburg, and Michael Halberstadt, Managing Director of Human Resources at Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, opened the event. Both welcomed the initiative of this “Apprenticeship Day” as part of which visitors were given practical information on apprenticeship and study prospects in a relaxed campus environment and were inspired by the variety of opportunities.
Michael Halberstadt, Managing Director of Human Resources at Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “BER Airport offers many job and career prospects after leaving school. We are pleased to present this wide range of apprenticeships and study programmes to young people together with the companies at Campus BER and the surrounding area. There are currently around 22,000 employees working at BER, and we want to motivate young people to seize the opportunity to become part of the airport family”.
In addition to the airport company, logistics companies, airlines, hotels, retailers, authorities (e.g. customs), the Federal Police, and German Air Traffic Control as well as various training providers, presented themselves, answered questions, and gave authentic insights into their work.
Even those who did not find out about the training or dual study programmes at Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH yesterday can do so on line at any time. At jobs.berlin-airport.de, there is information about the total of 12 apprenticeships and six dual study programmes – for which applications are still possible.
