Easter travel begins

Up to 1.2 million passengers expected at BER

The last day of school before the Easter holidays on 22 March marks the start of Easter travel at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. 66 airlines will be flying to 134 destinations in 48 countries during the holiday period from 22 March to 7 April. The busiest day is expected to be 5 April 2024 with up to 84,000 passengers. Destinations in the Mediterranean are the most popular in addition to European metropolises.

Passengers can travel in a more relaxed and convenient way by preparing for their departure and using BER’s digital services.

Fast Bag Drop

Passengers at BER can check themselves in using the machines provided and drop-off their baggage independently at a counter. Several airlines offer this service. The evening before

Some airlines offer passengers the option of checking in or dropping off their baggage the evening before for departures the next day. Lufthansa passengers can check-in the evening before, between 5 p.m. and 7.30 p.m., up to 23 hours before departure. For Eurowings flights, this is possible between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. and applies to departures up to 12 p.m. the following day. easyJet offers a bag drop the evening before, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., for departures up to 9.30 a.m. the following day.https://ber.berlin-airport.de/en/fliegen/checkin-boarding.html#vorabend

Security control

• Well prepared: passengers can help to make security control faster and more relaxed. Check the carry-on baggage rules with your airline before travelling and pack accordingly. After checking in and dropping of any baggage, you should go directly to security control; follow the signs in the queuing area and take off your jackets/coats shortly before your own control and keep them close to hand. • New screening technology in Terminal 2: thanks to new screening technology in Terminal 2, electronic devices and liquids no longer need to be removed from carry-on baggage at security controls.
• From Terminal 1 and 2 to every departure gate: the two terminals are connected so that travellers can reach any departure gate from any security control.

BER Traveller

BER Traveller allows completely hands-free access to certain process locations at the airport without having to show any documents by means of biometric facial recognition. The service allows access to the security checkpoint at the priority lane, the use of fast bag drop and boarding at gate B17 via facial recognition. The service is initially aimed at the Lufthansa Group’s HON Circle Members, Senators and Business Class travellers during the pilot phase. https://ber.berlin-airport.de/en/ausgewaehlt/ber-traveller.html

EasyPASS

Passengers who already have a biometric passport or new German identity card can use the automatic passport control gates. Third-country nationals aged 12 and over with an electronic passport and a German residence permit can also use EasyPASS and, by doing so, pass border controls more quickly. Getting to the airport

• Passengers can reach BER easily by public transport and by car. Travellers are asked to take note of the construction work planned on the regional train line RE8 and suburban trains (S-Bahn) during the holiday period and to check vbb.de for the latest information on how to get to BER. 
• You can save money by booking a parking space online in advance at parken.berlin-airport.de .

Enjoy a relaxed stay at BER

Passengers who want to spend their waiting time at BER in style in a relaxed atmosphere can book into one of our BER lounges. BER Lounges Tegel and Tempelhof are appealing and exclusive retreats where comfort takes priority. Here travellers will find a place to relax or a quiet corner to work. Shops and restaurants

Travellers can expect a number of shops and restaurant facilities in both the public and security areas. The centrepiece is the Market Place in Terminal 1 directly behind the security control with over 40 different shops and restaurants. Located adjacently on a gallery, travellers can enjoy a range of food at the Food Court. Since last week, Burger King and Starbucks have completed the Food Court’s diverse range of offers. In addition to various other shops and restaurants, REWE and Kamps are open around the clock in Terminal 1’s public area.
