At the start of the summer holidays, Berlin Brandenburg Airport recorded a significant increase in passenger numbers compared to last year. In July of this year, just over 2.36 million passengers travelled via BER. This corresponds to an increase of 7.1 per cent compared to July 2023 with around 2.2 million passengers. In July of the pre-coronavirus year 2019, the passenger volume at the former Tegel and Schönefeld Airports was around 3.36 million passengers.
A total of 14.19 million passengers were welcomed at BER this year from January to July, which corresponds to an increase of 11.7 per cent compared to the same period last year (12.7 million). The busiest day this year was Monday, July 15, 2024, with 90,316 passengers.
17,312 aircraft took off and landed at BER last month. This is 1,185 more than in July 2023. In July 2019, around 25,700 aircraft movements were registered at Tegel and Schönefeld.
A total of around 4,085 tonnes of air freight were loaded at BER in July 2024. This represents an increase of 48.9 per cent over July 2023. Compared to July in the pre-corona year 2019, 27.4 per cent more freight was loaded.
