AIR UNIQON now connects Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) with Friedrichshafen in Baden-Wuerttemberg on Lake Constance four times a week. This re-establishes a direct connection between the capital region and this important economic and industrial area in southern Germany following a 10-year hiatus. The new route is scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and is specifically geared towards business travellers’ needs.
The young airline was founded last year at Friedrichshafen Airport with the support of the regional economy. As a virtual airline, it arranges for its flights to be operated by a partner company. It uses Bombardier Dash 8-400 aircraft from the German airline Avanti Air, capable of seating 78 passengers. The flight time is about 90 minutes.
“The new connection closes an important gap in the domestic German route network,” emphasises Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH. “Regional centres such as the Lake Constance economic area need good connections to the capital region. Fast connections promote exchange between business, the start-up scene and politics. This strengthens both sides.”
“At AIR UNIQON we are delighted to be connecting the Lake Constance region with the capital region after such a long time,” says Fabian Rosenberg, Managing Director of AIR UNIQON GmbH. “An important connection has been created thanks to cooperation with companies from the region. One-day business appointments, short trips and holidays to the capital and Lake Constance can be undertaken with immediate effect. We look forward to welcoming our guests. We are passionate about connecting regions.”
“The fact that Berlin can once again be reached from Lake Constance in just 90 minutes is a strong boost for our region – for the export-oriented economy as well as for business travellers, commuters and city travellers,” says Detlef Schäfer, Managing Director of Friedrichshafen Airport, on the occasion of the first flight to Berlin. “At the same time, the four-country region of Lake Constance is now within easy reach of Berlin and Brandenburg.”
The flight times were designed in collaboration with regional companies at Lake Constance. Attractive early morning and late evening flights and flexible return flight options enable both day trips and short stays of several days during the week and at weekends. This allows business appointments in both regions to be planned efficiently around the following flight days and times:
Air Uniqon is a German aviation start-up that operates as a virtual airline without its own air operator’s certificate (AOC) and specialises in domestic German business travel routes from regional airports. The company was founded in February 2025 and commences scheduled flight operations today. As a niche provider in German air transport, the company deliberately focuses on selected, direct point-to-point, connections.
