Air Algérie flies from BER to Algiers
New direct route to Algeria

Air Algérie is now operating flights between Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) and Algiers, the capital of Algeria. The country’s national airline operates the route once a week, every Monday. The service will change to one flight a week on Sundays with the start of the winter timetable at the end of October. Algiers will, therefore, be directly connected to the capital region for the first time since 2014. The new direct route strengthens links with Algeria and, above all, offers additional travel options to passengers with family, cultural or business ties to Algeria.

“Direct flights bring people, markets and cultures together. The new route to Algiers improves access to Algeria for the capital region and strengthens BER’s links with North Africa,” says Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH.

“Launching direct flights between Algiers and Berlin marks a new milestone in strengthening relations between Algeria and Germany. This flight route meets the expectations of our fellow citizens living in Germany, while also providing direct access to the Algerian capital and Air Algérie’s entire route network. It will, therefore, help facilitate mobility and economic and tourism links between the two countries,” explains Mr Hamza Benhamouda, Director General and CEO of Air Algérie.

Flight schedule in detail

In the summer timetable, the route is listed every Monday in the flight schedule departing from BER. The flight departs at 7.00 p.m. and arrives at Algiers Airport at 9.05 p.m. local time. In the opposite direction, the aircraft takes off from Algiers at 2.00 p.m. and lands at BER at 6.00 p.m. The flight lasts about three hours each way. During the summer, Algeria is one hour behind Germany because it does not switch to summer time.

Air Algérie will be switching to a Sunday flight at the start of the winter timetable. From 1 November, flights will depart from BER at 1:55 p.m. and arrive in Algiers at 4:35 p.m. local time. In the opposite direction, the aircraft takes off from Algiers at 10.15 a.m. and lands at BER at 12.55 p.m. During the winter, there is no time difference between Germany and Algeria.

The new route to the German capital region forms part of the expansion of Air Algérie’s international route network, thanks to the fleet modernisation and expansion. Boeing 737 aircraft, which can carry up to 186 passengers, are used on the route to BER.

Air Algérie operates the route from BER to Algiers once a week, every Monday. With the start of the winter timetable at the end of October, the service will switch to a weekly Sunday flight.
