Corporate volunteering in the Wietstock district of Ludwigsfelde

Working together for the region: As part of a corporate volunteering initiative, nine staff members from Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) volunteered at the ‘Grashüpfer’ nursery in Wietstock, a district of the town of Ludwigsfelde. For one day, they voluntarily swapped their usual workplace at the airport for tools and work gloves to help redesign the centre’s outdoor area and create new play opportunities for the children.

The initiative on 24 September 2026 centred on two projects: building an outdoor play kitchen from Euro pallets and erecting a wooden shelter for children’s vehicles and play equipment. With the newly created outdoor facilities, the nursery will in future offer the children even more opportunities for creative play and experimentation in the open air. The Ludwigsfelde district of Wietstock is situated around 20 kilometres south-west of the airport in the district of Teltow-Fläming. BER’s busiest departure route runs over the village.

The regular corporate volunteering initiatives have been an integral part of the airport operator’s commitment to the BER neighbourhood for many years. They give staff the opportunity to work together on a project during their working hours, thereby making a tangible and practical contribution to a facility or organisation in the airport region.
