Almost 2.5 million people travelled through Berlin Brandenburg Airport in September. That is around 24,000 more passengers than in September 2024, according to preliminary figures in the traffic report.
Following the cyber attack on 19 September on system partner Collins Aerospace, which affected passenger and baggage handling at BER and other European airports, operations had settled down as far as possible in view of the exceptional circumstances. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of airport staff, ground handling service providers and airlines, almost all flights were able to take place. The cyber attack therefore did not have a significant impact on traffic statistics.
A total of 17,934 aircraft took off and landed at BER last month. In September of the previous year, the figure was 17,979 aircraft. A total of more than 4,418 tonnes of freight were handled at BER last month, around 420 tonnes more than in September 2024.
