Traffic report

Published: 10 March 2026, 16:30

BER recorded 1.63 million passengers in February
Freezing rain caused numerous flight cancellations

Last February, 1.63 million people travelled through Berlin Brandenburg Airport. That was 4.8 percent less than in the same month last year, according to the preliminary figures in the traffic report.

Freezing rain in the first week of February and the resulting suspension of flight operations on the evening of 5 February and into the early afternoon of 6 February had an impact on traffic figures. Airlines cancelled around 800 flights on these two days of freezing rain alone. Without February’s weather-related cancellations, the planned passenger numbers would have been slightly higher than in the same month last year.

In total, 12,351 aircraft took off and landed at BER last month, 1,059 fewer than in the same month last year. In February 2026, 3,563 tonnes of cargo were handled at BER. This represents a slight drop of 14 tonnes compared to the same month last year.
