Measurements of Aircraft Noise

Every airport in Germany is legally required to operate measuring stations at the airport and in its vicinity in order to document aircraft noise. Aircraft noise monitoring enables the airport to provide information on the noise emission of each flight movement and to continuously document the development of aircraft noise. The data are needed mainly for calculating noise-related take-off and landing charges as well as for the processing of complaints. You can view the current data from our aircraft noise measurement centres here: https://travisber.topsonic.aero/

Flight Movements at BER

With the TRAVIS information tool, the current aircraft movements and aircraft noise measurement data for BER can be accessed with minimal delay. TRAVIS provides information on the type of aircraft, the airline involved, the destination of the aircraft, and where it departed from and provides data on the altitude, speed and angle of approach or climb of the aircraft. By placing the house symbol on the map and clicking on an aircraft, the height at which the aircraft flew over the house or the lateral distance of the house to the approach or departure baseline is displayed, among other things.

In addition, TRAVIS offers an archive function. By entering a date or time, noise events in the past can also be analysed. It is also possible to “play back” the flight movements quasi in fast motion.

The TRAVIS map can also be used to display the current aircraft noise measurement data by clicking on the measuring points.
