Airport CEO reads to pupils from Schulzendorf Primary School
Together with the MÄRCHENLAND e.V. society, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) hosted a very special reading event at BER on 7 November as part of the 34th Berlin Fairy Tale Days: Aletta von Massenbach, FBB’s CEO, read the fairy tale “The Flying Carpet” from the Arabian Nights to 42 schoolchildren from Schulzendorf Primary School. Afterwards, our little guests told us which places they would most like to travel to on a flying carpet. The children were also able to take a look behind the scenes at the airport on a tour of the BER terminal and the viewing terrace – many of them immediately spotted the carpet flying above the terminal’s check-in hall: the artwork “THE Magic Carpet” by American artist Pae White captures the theme of the flying carpet and can be admired at any time.
Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer: “Fairy tales create solidarity, inspire the imagination and encourage creativity. I am pleased to have had the opportunity to familiarise schoolchildren from the airport region to the cultural heritage of storytelling – and to do so with a tale that fits in with the theme of flying. This is also something very special for me.”
In the MÄRWERTSTUNDE series, Märchenland invites successful entrepreneurs to participate in a special kind of value creation process: they read out a fairy tale and then talk about the values that characterise their entrepreneurial activities and answer questions from the audience.
