Jointly shaping transformation

The airport company works closely with the German and international aviation industry and other major airports on its goals and measures. The climate affects all countries worldwide, air traffic is international and will continue to grow in the future. This makes it all the more important to harmonise flying with climate protection.

Air traffic accounts for 3.06 per cent of global CO2 emissions. If all global climate effects are taken into account, air traffic accounts for about five per cent. The situation calls for joint solutions from all stakeholders at an early stage.

The ADV is the industry association of German commercial airports and represents their interests in relation to politics, business and the public. It supports its members with expert advice and best practice standards and promotes dialogue and cooperation between airports. The association is committed to sustainable and competitive air transport infrastructure in Germany. Our sustainability management is involved in the “Climate Protection, Transformation and Infrastructure” expert committee.

The association networks companies, research institutions and political players to promote the expansion and use of hydrogen as a sustainable energy source. ACI EUROPE Environmental Strategy Committee

The Environmental Strategy Committee monitors environmental trends and sustainable developments, analyses European legislation and advises the ACI EUROPE Board. It promotes the exchange of best practices and ensures the exchange of information with other ACI EUROPE committees and the ACI World Environment Standing Committee (WENSC). The committee evaluates and contributes to ICAO initiatives. The key topics are noise, climate change and Airport Carbon Accreditation as well as local air quality. In addition, the committee deals with EU environmental policy in aviation and works on climate adaptation. Our sustainability management is involved in the “Climate Change Task Force.”
