The airport company works closely with the German and international aviation industry and other major airports on its goals and measures. The climate affects all countries worldwide, air traffic is international and will continue to grow in the future. This makes it all the more important to harmonise flying with climate protection.
Air traffic accounts for 3.06 per cent of global CO2 emissions. If all global climate effects are taken into account, air traffic accounts for about five per cent. The situation calls for joint solutions from all stakeholders at an early stage.
