Responsibility of the aviation industry

The airport company is a member of aireg (Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany e.V.). The non-profit initiative for aviation fuels from renewable energies combines commitment, expertise and a wealth of experience from industry, business and science in the field of German aviation. Our sustainability management is involved in the “Sustainability” working group.

The ADV is the industry association of German commercial airports and represents their interests in relation to politics, business and the public. It supports its members with expert advice and best practice standards and promotes dialogue and cooperation between airports. The association is committed to sustainable and competitive air transport infrastructure in Germany. Our sustainability management is involved in the “Climate Protection, Transformation and Infrastructure” expert committee.

BDL represents the interests of the German aviation industry at national and international level. The association is committed to the further development of the aviation industry by shaping and improving the underlying political and economic conditions. It offers its members comprehensive support via specialised information and networking opportunities. The Berlin Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) is a central institution for representing the economic interests of companies in the region. It supports and advises its members on economic issues, promotes economic development and offers services such as further training, networking and counselling. The IHK Berlin also acts as a mediator between business and politics to improve the underlying conditions for companies. It is classified in various specialist committees that deal with specific business issues. Our sustainability management is involved in the “Sustainable Metropolis” committee..

H2Berlin promotes the use of hydrogen technologies in Berlin. The association networks companies, research institutions and political players to promote the expansion and use of hydrogen as a sustainable energy source. H2Berlin supports projects, organises events and is committed to the creation of a hydrogen infrastructure. Our sustainability management is involved as a “sponsor.”

The Environmental Strategy Committee monitors environmental trends and sustainable developments, analyses European legislation and advises the ACI EUROPE Board. It promotes the exchange of best practices and ensures the exchange of information with other ACI EUROPE committees and the ACI World Environment Standing Committee (WENSC). The committee evaluates and contributes to ICAO initiatives. The key topics are noise, climate change and Airport Carbon Accreditation as well as local air quality. In addition, the committee deals with EU environmental policy in aviation and works on climate adaptation. Our sustainability management is involved in the “Climate Change Task Force.”

NOW GmbH (National Organisation Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology) promotes the development and market launch of technologies for clean mobility and energy supply. It coordinates funding programmes and projects in the fields of hydrogen, fuel cells and alternative drive systems. NOW GmbH aims to promote sustainable energy solutions and reduce environmental pollution. Our sustainability management is present at various events.
