The FBB's network of measurement stations is being expanded further: the latest measurement station – number 28 – is located in Schulzendorf on Kornblumenweg, where it measures the noise of aircraft taking off from the south runway and flying eastwards over the Hoffmannkurve. The measurement network now comprises a total of 32 fixed measuring stations, which are located around BER, primarily along the various flight paths.

Aircraft noise is an important issue for FBB. The new location in Schulzendorf was chosen to better understand how precisely the Hoffmann curve is flown. This will also allow for better investigation of the effects of the recently introduced Performance Based Navigation (PBN), in which aircraft are navigated using satellite technology. In addition, the measuring station can later be integrated into noise-related charges, thus mapping aircraft on the Hoffmann curve even more accurately. The measuring station is currently still powered by solar modules and will soon be connected to the electricity grid.
