Bringing school and practice together

The airport is committed to supporting young talent

With the signing of the second cooperation agreement as part of a school partnership, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH and Amy Johnson Grammar School in Schönefeld sealed their close collaboration on 26 March 2026. The aim of the partnership is to inspire young people at an early stage to pursue apprenticeships and dual study programmes with the airport company, while providing them with clear career prospects.

The cooperation is a key component of the airport’s recruitment strategy and deliberately focuses on early career orientation. Pupils gain practical insights into a range of professions – particularly technical roles at the airport campus as well as positions in the security sector.

“It is very important to us to inspire young people at an early stage for the wide range of apprenticeship and study opportunities available at the airport through partnerships with schools such as this. We want to make working life tangible and accessible, thereby supporting pupils in finding their career path within the region.”
Juliane Reffert, Head of Human Resources & Organisation, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH

Planned activities include joint career orientation and information events held directly at the airport, as well as the company’s regular presence at school events, such as summer fairs. The collaboration takes place in close coordination with careers teachers and the airport’s training organisation.

In this way, a valuable bridge is created for pupils between school and working life – while also making a sustainable contribution to securing skilled talent in the region.
