The Express Center in the north of BER has a handling area of 4,000 square meters and is used for handling the express services FedEx and UPS. The German Red Cross (DRK) stores mobile hospitals here for emergency use worldwide. It has a capacity of around 30,000 tons of air freight per year.
FedEx has increased its handling area through the acquisition of TNT Express. UPS's handling area is between FedEx and the Red Cross.
The growth in cargo airlines is mainly due to the express services UPS and FedEx, which are currently growing at around 10 per cent.
