Flight paths are the paths to be flown by aircraft. They are planned by Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS), which is advised by the Aircraft Noise Commission. The flight paths are ultimately determined by the Federal Supervisory Authority for Air Navigation Services (BAF).
The flight paths for BER were presented to the public on 26 January 2012. All municipalities in the region have participated constructively in the Aircraft Noise Commission. The principle of a low impact on many residents versus a high impact on a few residents preferred by the Aircraft Noise Commission is fulfilled by the selected flight paths. The defined flight paths avoid flying over densely populated areas taking into account the required flight safety and the results of the planning approval for the airport.
