Aircraft noise
forecast

Aircraft always take off and land against the wind. The operating direction therefore depends on the current wind direction. With a westerly wind, aircraft take off and land in a westerly direction; with an easterly wind, they take off and land in an easterly direction. In the Berlin-Brandenburg region, westerly winds prevail for around two-thirds of the year.

Operating direction

Find out which direction will be flown these days.

The following diagrams show the corridors in which flyovers are to be expected in the respective operating direction. Landings are marked in red and take-offs in blue. In addition, information on the expected average flyover heights and maximum levels of individual flight events is given. The figures refer to the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft types that operate mainly at the airport.

The corridors were drawn up only to the relevant clearance altitude from which the aircraft can directly approach the destinations or, in the case of landings, up to the turn-in points.

Noise Protection

Depending on the expected noise pollution, protected areas covering an area of more than 155 km² have been designated around BER. Within these protected areas, there may be an entitlement to reimbursement of costs for structural noise protection or compensation from the BER noise protection programme.
